NUMBER PLATES

As a DVLA Registered number plate supplier, Towcraft exclusively produces road-legal plates.

To comply with UK law, we must verify your identity and your entitlement to the registration number before we can fulfil your order.

Please provide one document from Group A and one from Group B (listed below). We securely retain this information in accordance with legal standards, and it may be requested by the Police, DVLA, or DVSA at any time. 

Why this matters:

Under the British Standard (BS AU 145e), supplying plates without these checks is illegal. By keeping these records, Towcraft ensures that every plate on the road is traceable and legitimate, helping to prevent vehicle cloning and crime.

Please Note: We must see the original documents. We cannot legally accept photocopies or digital scans/photos unless specifically permitted under current DVLA remote-sale provisions.

A: Proof of your name and address

• Driving licence, with or without a photo (doesn't have to be issued in the UK)
• Utility bill or Council Tax bill (from the last 6 months)
• Bank or building society statement (from the last 6 months)
• National identity card (issued by the government of a state or territory other than the United Kingdom)

B: Proof of entitlement to the registration:

• vehicle registration certificate (V5C)
• new keeper slip (green slip)
• a certificate of entitlement (V750) to the number
• a retention document (V778)
• a renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11)
• a temporary registration certificate (V379)
• a number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
• an electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948, only valid for 3 days from date of issue!) or an electronic trailer number plate authorisation certificate (eV948/2, only valid for 5 days from date of issue!)
• UK trailer registration certificate (VTRC) 

Due to legislation number plates or travel plates can only be collected from our premises.
